Researchers from University of Galway and University College Cork are working on a ground-breaking research project called TownAir which aims to determine the sources of air pollution in Irish towns.
Enniscorthy has been selected for the first phase of TownAir and members of the research team Prof John Wenger and PhD student Shona O’Sullivan visited Enniscorthy Community College on Friday, 14th of March. Third and sixth year Geography students were invited to the presentation which had an interactive Q&A element. The results of the project will be used to better understand air pollution in Enniscorthy and support the development of effective strategies to achieve cleaner air for everyone. The students were amazed to see how the air in Enniscorthy has improved since 2018, but there is still work to do.
