On Monday 19th students enjoyed workshops with author and BBC journalist Nick Sheridan in the library. Students learned about different roles in a newsroom from runners and researchers to reporters and presenters, to producers running the show behind the scenes. Nick told us how to spot ‘fake news’ and how to know the real thing. He had time for the many questions students had and asked a few questions of them too, about where they get their news. The informative and entertaining workshops were enjoyed by all.
Nick Sheridan is an award-winning journalist and television presenter originally from Wexford. He worked for two years on RTE News2day, before moving to the main RTE newsroom where he worked on the foreign affairs desk. Nick currently works for BBC News in Scotland, where he is the Consumer Affairs Correspondent and presents the news review show Seven Days.
