Leaving Cert Biology students visited Carnesore Point on Wednesday,1stOctober to complete their required Field Work.
Thirty nine students enthusiastically undertook the 5km round trip to our chosen spot in this amazing ecosystem, where they carried out the following mandatory activities:
a site map and description, measurement of abiotic factors which influence species distribution, identification of a range of plant and animal species, and their adaptations to respective habitats. Students also conducted two quantitative studies - measurement of frequency of chosen species, and percentage cover along a belt transect from upper to lower shore.
Very well done to all the students on a great day's work, and sincere thanks to Ms.Trudy O'Byrne, Ms. Danielle Mulligan and Mr. Shane Roche for accompanying and helping the students on the day.
