The Business in the Community partnership between Enniscorthy Community College and the Riverside Park Hotel finished up this week. The initiative involved 24 second year students from the 2 Yew class who initially were given a briefing on what they would be covering over the five weeks by Kelly Sheehan from the Riverside Park Hotel. The students visited the hotel and were spoken to by four different staff members from different parts of the hotel. They also received a guided tour of the facilities and at the end there was time for questions and answers. At the end of the tour students had better knowledge concerning the roles of different personnel in the hotel and the key role teamwork plays in the smooth running of the hotel. In the other sessions students gained an understanding of soft skills and were organised into break-out discussion groups at different stages. On the final day students presented the findings of their sustainability project through powerpoint presentations. A special thanks to Kelly Sheehan, Riverside Park Hotel, Company Coordinator, Damian Meehan, Enniscorthy Community College, Year Head, Paula Busher, School Completion Programme Coordinator and Alice Kavanagh, Business In The Community Coordinator.
