Can you Dig It? - ECC students become Archaeologists

In late September The Irish School of Archaeology constructed a pop up archaeological site on the grounds of Enniscorthy Community College. The site was a reconstruction of a Viking house as was found in Wood Quay in Dublin in the 1980s. After some instruction students began excavating. Under supervision from two professional archaeologists the students used trowels and shovels to unearth artefacts and piece together the details of a Viking house. Organised by the Librarian and the History Dept the workshops were not only great fun but were also accessible to all; covering some Junior Cert History curricular content, engaging students from our ASD classes and senior students investigating careers.
