Enniscorthy Community College students had a great experience at this year’s Careers Fair in Enniscorthy Community College, where they met a wide range of organisations and training providers in one place.
Students spoke directly with professionals from the emergency services, including the Fire Brigade, National Ambulance Service, Defence Forces, and An Garda Síochána. They also met companies such as Kent Engineering, Bolands of Wexford, ABP Slaney, and Zurich Insurance, many of which offer apprenticeships for school leavers. In previous years, some of our students have secured apprenticeships with these companies.
The event gave students a real insight into different career options, including university and PLC courses, as well as opportunities with Permanent TSB, Enniscorthy Credit Union and Teagasc. There were also direct entry job options across different sectors, helping to support students with a wide range of interests and learning needs.
Students enjoyed asking honest questions about what the jobs are really like, how to train for them and what life after school looks like. The event helped them link their strengths and interests to possible future careers and showed them the many supports available for further education, training and employment.
Overall, it was a positive and encouraging experience that helped students feel more confident about their next steps. Well done to all involved and all staff who helped to organise the event.
