College Awareness Week is a national campaign which aims to promote the benefits of going to College and University as well as the benefits of Apprenticeships. ECC had a variety of activities organised throughout the week- There was a Whole School approach and it was an excellent way for collaboration between all staff and students. A sample of our activities were as follows:
On Tuesday 19th all students and Teachers participated in a 'Fun College Question time' with their class teacher- Prizes for the best answers were given on Friday. Junior cycle students - participated in a 'Make a Careers Poster'- best designs received a prize. On Thursday ECC PLC Course directors and their students showcased their course and progression routes.
WWETB APPRENTICESHIPS-The above photo was of our guest speaker Marie Esmonde of WWETB Apprenticeships- who did an excellent interactive presentation with our 5th years, 6th Year students and PLC students. Lots of free prizes were handed out for a Quiz hosted by Marie.
DCU- We had guest speaker Louise Burke from DCU, who visited our school on Monday, 18th November and met with our sixth year students. Some of them aspire to study computer science at DCU after their Leaving Certificate, so her visit provided an excellent opportunity to learn about the diverse range of courses the university offers and the exciting student activities it provides.
