Cloudberry, Scarlet pimpernel, Red Clover, Forget-me-nots, Dock leaves, Ferns, Snowberry, Hawthorn, Cuckooflower, Pear trees, an Oak tree sapling and a Japanese maple tree are but a few of the beautiful wildflowers and trees that grow on our school grounds.
The Creative Schools Committee finished up with our last meeting of the year with a fun mini project for Spring. Students used flower and leaf pressings from plants found growing on school grounds to create impressions on air drying clay and then painted these mini pieces of art.
The Committee which involves members of our staff and students from 1st to 5th year who have been busy behind the scenes this school year planning and creating ideas for a wellbeing space in our school.
Students will take part again in September for the second year of this programme where they will work on bringing their ideas to fruition. This initiative is supported by the Arts Council of Ireland with guidance from our resident artist Helen Flanagan who has been a huge asset to the committee and planning process. Excited to see what the new year brings. Thank you to our wonderful students who have given their time to a very worthwhile creative journey and also to Art teacher Ms. Melissa Brennan for coordinating the project.
