On Wednesday, 17th September, the guidance team took a group of 6th year students to both the Higher Options and WorldSkills Ireland events at the RDS, and it was an incredibly valuable experience for all involved. At the Higher Options event, students had the opportunity to explore a wide range of third level education options. Universities, colleges, and other institutions were there to share details about the courses and programs they offer, helping students gain a better understanding of what they might want to study after school. Meanwhile, the WorldSkills Ireland event focused on practical, hands on careers like engineering, technology, healthcare, and hospitality, showing students that there are many career paths outside of traditional academic routes. Both events were inclusive and catered to students with varying interests and abilities, ensuring that everyone could find something relevant to them. Whether students were considering university or exploring trade options, they were able to gather more information about the different choices available. By the end of the day, the students left feeling more confident and excited about their future, with a clearer understanding of the many opportunities open to them. A special thanks to Guidance Counsellors Ms. Avril Murphy and Mr. Warren Wheelock for organising the trip and to SNA Ms. Jacinta Mulligan for accompanying the students.
