Literacy week was celebrated in ECC from the 3rd to the 6th of March to coincide with World Book Day this year. There was a selection of workshops with visiting authors and story tellers like Sinead O'Brien which were enjoyed by all students who participated. We all had a giggle each morning with the joke of the day and other activities included the six word short story, ten minute activities for teachers to give to student during the week as well as the Write well competition. The week ended with an address from the Principal emphasising the importance of all members of the school community to be constantly striving to improve their literacy skills. The final activity was Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) which everyone did for twenty minutes on Friday morning. A special thanks to Ms. Angela Bourke and the literacy committee for organising the different events throughout the week.
