Annual ECC Wexford Festival Opera Trip -2024
Students and teachers of the Music Department, Enniscorthy Community College, were invited by Wexford Festival Opera to attend the Italian opera ‘Pagliacci’ by Leoncavallo in the National Opera House on Monday 21st October.
Accompanied by teachers Ms Cullen, Ms Kelly, SNAs Sharon Murphy and Anne Marie Lillis, 47 music students from 2nd year up to 6nd year enjoyed a powerful performance of this famous tragedy in the stunning venue of Wexford Opera House; first performed in Teatro Dal Verme, Milan, Italy, 1892.
Students were intrigued by the standard of singing and orchestral playing; all acoustic music. Canio-tenor-was sung by upcoming American star, Samuel White, while young Irish soprano, Laura Ahearne, was the tragic Nedda.The ECC group adjourned to McDonald’s after the show to complete their review.
