Science Week 2023

Science Week is a week-long event in Ireland each November, celebrating science in our everyday lives. The theme for Science Week 2023 is 'Human? ', which asks people to consider what it means to be human in today's world, and how the decisions we make today will impact the people and world of the future.

There are a number of events running in ECC this year for Science week including science competitions for junior cycle and senior cycle students, lunchtime activities, a trip to BD Medical in Enniscorthy and our very first SciFest event. All information about activities during Science Week is available from the science department and also the noticeboard outside the library.

BD is a multinational medical technology company that manufactures and sells medical devices, instrument systems, and reagents. ECC have established a link with BD and are going on a guided tour of their laboratories again this Science Week. BD have come to ECC in recent times to demonstrate some of the life-saving equipment they have been involved in developing.

SciFest is the largest second-level STEM fair programme in Ireland. It is a school based event and our current 2^nd Year students have been busy thinking like scientists and implementing the scientific method to design their own experiments. The students will display their experiments in the Multi-purpose room on Friday 17^th November. Science students from across the whole school will be able to see the projects and vote for their favourite one. Judges from SciFest will also judge the projects and award prizes.

There is something for all students to engage in this Science Week.
