TY students visited Wexford Garda Station on Wednesday 26th March and were given a tour of the Station by Garda Aidan Miley from the Community Policing Division.
Students spent time in the Communications room, where the many cameras observing activities around the town were in action. They visited the interview rooms, doctor's room where samples are taken, search room, area where fingerprints and body measurements are taken, before spending (not much!) time in the holding cells and exercise yard.
The application process and training regime in Templemore were outlined to the students, and some did indeed have their appetites whetted for what was described as a challenging but most worthwhile career. A special thanks to Ms. Trudy O'Byrne and to Mr. Kevin Finn for accompanying the students on the educational trip.
