Rugby Union, and Tag Rugby for girls, have been part of the Extra Curricular Activities in Enniscorthy Community College for many years.
Rugby is a game that requires players of all shapes and sizes to make up a full functioning team. Big, strong heavy players are needed to lift their team mates in the lineout, and to keep the scrum stable. Tall players are needed in the second row, while small quick players are usually very effective scrum halves. In other words, whatever your build, there is a position for you in a rugby team.
Rugby is a skilful game that requires good co-ordination and quick thinking, strength and great communication skills. Our school play in the Junior and Senior South-East League, after which, depending on your results can progress to the Leinster Development Cup and Shied. Regular training is required to learn the rules and correct techniques in tackling, passing and set plays. The local Club and Community Officer takes training once a week from 1pm -1.40.
All players, new and old, experienced and inexperienced, are always welcome to try their hand at this fast and skillful game.
