Art Club began in 2014 with the idea that it would become a creative space to encourage our students to enter competitions, evolve their own ideas and perhaps learn new skills. Since its inception, the Art Club has been involved in a number of school events including being commissioned to produce a unique sign for the new school library and assisting with props for our very successful production of the “Outsiders”. We have seen students honoured at the Texaco Art Competition, entering Portrait Artist of the Year, and developing as budding artists in their own work.
The group meet on a Thursday afternoon from 3:30 to 4:30. Currently students from 2nd to 6th Year are welcome. All details are available from Ms. N. Doyle, Art teacher.
Going forward, the Art Club is focusing on entering as many competitions as possible that come our way. This will not only boost the students’ confidence but will teach them to work under a deadline and adhere to a brief, skills that are extremely important in both Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate Art.
