BT Young Scientist & Technology Club is open to all students in Enniscorthy Community College during lunchtime on Tuesday and Wednesday and after school on Wednesday. The aim of this club is to help students explore any scientific queries they may have, develop investigation skills and carry out research and experiments on topics that they may have a particular interest in. Participation in this extra-curricular club helps students in numerous ways – the skills required for completing Junior Certificate Science projects are reinforced, leadership skills and presentation skills are also developed. It is not necessary for a student to study Science in order to take part, just to have an inquisitive mind! Students that complete projects may then have the opportunity to enter the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition in the RDS in Dublin.
The BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition is much more than a competition; it is an unforgettable experience of a lifetime for the students who take part. The Exhibition itself is the final stage in the competition, which is open to all second level students from Ireland, both north and south. As well as the student projects on display, there are a further four exhibition halls filled with science and technology-based exhibits and entertainment, making it a thrilling event for those who entered and for general visitors too.
