The school has a very active Chess club and students congregate in the library at lunchtime to fine tune their skills. Throughout the year students are involved in chess competitions with students from other schools. The library place provides a relaxing space for students to further enhance their chess skills and meet students from different classes. School librarian Ms. Mary Flynn and Mr. Nathan Byrne are very much involved in raising the profile of chess in the school.
