Green-Schools is Ireland’s leading environmental management and education programme for schools. Promoting long-term, whole-school action for the environment Green-Schools is a student-led programme with involvement from the wider community. The programme is operated and coordinated by the Environmental Education Unit of An Taisce (FEE member for Ireland).
Aim of the Green-Schools Programme:
“To increase students’ and participant awareness of environmental issues through classroom studies and to transfer this knowledge into positive environmental action in the school and also in the wider community’

Student Development
The Green-Schools Programme in Enniscorthy Community College gives students an opportunity to take ownership of an environmental issue and create a positive change in their local community. Taking an active role in achieving an international environmental award is a prestigious achievement and is a notable addition to any student’s curriculum vitae. Being part of a Green-Schools Committee builds confidence, the ability to solve problems, communication and organisation skills. The Green-Schools Committee in Enniscorthy Community College are proactively and effectively leading the environmental campaign in our school.
